Arlington ISD Center for Family and Community Engagement
Arlington, Texas
The Arlington ISD Center for Family and Community Engagement (CFACE), a hub for districtwide family and community initiatives, underwent a renovation transforming an existing space into a modern multimedia studio designed for film and communications.
Originally constructed as a grocery store, the space required extensive acoustic design to function as a “dead room.” Sound attenuation strategies included full-height sound walls extending to the deck, acoustical wall panels, a dedicated rooftop unit serving only the studio and adjacent hallway, and sound-blocking doors to isolate the space. Additional hallway doors and “On Air” signage further define and support the studio environment.
The studio features a sound room, dressing area, storage, and flexible space designed to accommodate large production sets. Integrated green and blue walls support a variety of filming needs, creating a professional-grade environment intended for districtwide media production rather than traditional classroom use.
Beyond the studio, the project included site and facility improvements to support CFACE’s continued evolution from a former AISD Turning Point campus into a community-focused resource. Enhancements include secure perimeter fencing, parking lot maintenance, and front office upgrades such as a new reception desk, updated finishes, improved wayfinding, and new signage. Interior updates, including new carpet in the vestibule and a recessed fire alarm panel, contribute to a cohesive communal experience.
